This evening, Mayor Frank G. Jackson, Sergeant Jennifer Ciaccia from the Cleveland Division of Police and Assistant Chief Prosecutor Kimberly G. Barnett provided the media with an overview of actions that transpired in the event zone as it relates to the Republican National Convention. Click here to view the briefing in its entirety.

A brief summary follows.

Protest Safety and Security Updates:

  • Two officers, one a Georgia State Trooper and one with the Cleveland Division of Police, were treated for minor skin irritation. They are doing well. The incident is still being investigated, but it is confirmed that no needles or syringes were used. It is possible that it was coming from irritant on a sticker.
  • As a precaution, police are advising that if you received a sticker from a person that you don’t know, wash the area with soap and water. Do not take any items from anyone you…
