Food Trucks in The Square

The 2018 Food Truck Season in Public Square kicks off TODAYTuesday, May, 22ND. Food Trucks will roll into The Square every Tuesday through October 16th this year.

Each week will feature a new group of your favorite local Food Trucks. The trucks will park along Rockwell Avenue, just north of the Gund Foundation Green.

You can check Cleveland Public Square’s events calendar to find out which trucks will be serving up food during the lunch hour.

Each week will also feature live musicians, as well as the “For the Love of Cleveland” Speaking Series hosted by The City Club.

TURNING YOUR ART INTO A BUSINESS WORKSHOPS!

Cleveland Public Library is offering free workshops for creative artists in music, publishing, TV & film, digital media and the visual arts. This series of ten workshops provides artists with a better understanding of the legal and business aspects of five creative disciplines and empowers them to monetize their art. This program is being coordinated by Leah Lewis, of Three Butterflies Entertainment, LLC.

June 30: “Reality Is Her Canvas: Opportunities and Liabilities in the Digital Arts”

With an an unprecedented array of expressive technologies at their disposal, digital artists have never been freer to shatter the line between fantasy and reality as they bring their imaginations to life. But with great power comes great liability. Art should provoke, but not lawsuits, and digital mediums present unique concerns about ownership and censorship. First Amendment Lawyer Patrick Kabat will discuss the use of digital raw materials, appropriation art, and digital manipulation. It is intended that digital artists will leave better-informed to avoid costly disputes, and also to stand firm on their expressive freedoms.

Professor John Latimer helps prepare music artists for their career launch. In the music business, many artists will face two types of development in their careers–Artist Development, or the pre-release creating, planning and preparing, and Product Development, or the implementing and producing. Learn how art is no less important than commerce for today’s developing musician.

Contribute Your Voice to the Cleveland & Akron Theme Song!

TSFAC_header_image-new5It’s your time to shine! If you had the chance to write a theme song for Cleveland and Akron, what elements would you include? What is your favorite thing about the region? Food…Beer…Music…Lake Erie? The time is now! Voice your opinion and contribute to the newest theme song for Northeast Ohio.

The Theme Song for Cleveland and Akron is a commission with FRONT International in partnership with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The song will be written by the citizens of Northeastern Ohio via this survey and will be performed by local musicians. The lyrics and music will be compiled by filmmaker/writer Jonn Herschend and musician/composer Silas Hite. The song will then premiere as a music video at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this July and run through the end of September. Take the survey and pass it on!

Deadline to submit is May 21.

Cleveland Metroparks Friday night concert series returns in 2018. Listen to live music, take a photograph at the Cleveland script sign, pack a picnic or sample fare from local food vendors.

Visitors can also catch a glimpse of the ongoing improvements, the new Euclid Beach Pier anticipated completion is fall 2018. Curved west towards the city, the new pier will offer views of the Cleveland skyline never experienced from this location before. The pier will be ADA accessible, have permanent seating and offer great opportunities to bird watch, take in the sunset and more.

2018 Edgewater Live Schedule

EDGEWATER LIVE PRESENTED BY TRI-C

MAY 31 – AUG 02, 2018

Edgewater LIVE presented by Cuyahoga Community College will kick off May 31 at 4:30 p.m. on the Centennial Plaza at Edgewater Beach House with performers from the Tri-C Creative Arts Program. Then, from 6 to 9 p.m., the region’s favorite headlining acts will perform on the Dollar Bank Stage. Visitors can grab a bite to eat from a rotating lineup of more than a dozen local food trucks each week and enjoy happy hour and local made-to-order fare from the Beach House, featuring spectacular views of Lake Erie and Cleveland’s skyline.

New this year is the Edgewater Nature Shop that will enhance beach and recreational offerings for visitors throughout the summer season. Beach goers will be able to rent standup paddleboards, umbrellas and chairs and purchase towels, sunscreen, Cleveland Metroparks branded merchandise and more.
