Cleveland Public Library is offering free workshops for creative artists in music, publishing, TV & film, digital media and the visual arts. This series of ten workshops provides artists with a better understanding of the legal and business aspects of five creative disciplines and empowers them to monetize their art. This program is being coordinated by Leah Lewis, of Three Butterflies Entertainment, LLC.

DIGITAL ARTS

June 30: “Reality Is Her Canvas: Opportunities and Liabilities in the Digital Arts”

With an an unprecedented array of expressive technologies at their disposal, digital artists have never been freer to shatter the line between fantasy and reality as they bring their imaginations to life. But with great power comes great liability. Art should provoke, but not lawsuits, and digital mediums present unique concerns about ownership and censorship. First Amendment Lawyer Patrick Kabat will discuss the use of digital raw materials, appropriation art, and digital manipulation. It is intended that digital artists will leave better-informed to avoid costly disputes, and also to stand firm on their expressive freedoms.

Enjoy a FREE concert each Wednesday night in Wade Oval from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the heart of University Circle. Food trucks, vendors, theme nights, and activities vary each week and are all family-friendly. Bring a picnic or purchase delicious treats from vendors on site*. Select museums are open late on Wednesdays.

Get Ready For Larchmere Porchfest!

For five straight years, the quiet, antique/restaurant heavy Larchmere neighborhood has been transformed in to a musical oasis for one day.. This year will be no different as the musical tradition returns that is, Larchmere Porchfest on June 21st, 2014 from 1 – 8 pm.

This FREE musical festival, transforms 30 Larchmere neighborhood porches into stages for musical performances from local musicians.

Who Should Come

PorchFest is a family-friendly event featuring musicians from a wide variety of genres.

What to Bring

You’ll be “camping out” in neighborhood front lawns for 30-40 minutes at a time, so bring chairs or a blanket to sit on. If you want to see as many bands as possible, a bike is a great idea.

What to Eat & Drink

Larchmere Blvd. and Shaker Square have many restaurants to choose from. Food trucks are likely to be around for additional food options. You are welcome to bring a cooler, but please pick up any trash you may create.

Where to Go for Info

Get a printed schedule & map, purchase CDs, T-shirts, etc. and learn about the neighborhood at the Info Tent on the corner of E 127th Street and Larchmere. Restrooms are available here.
